|Need portable power at your film location?||
|I highly recommend B&H for cameras, lights etc.->|
|Need to ship DVDs? I use Royal Mailers poly-bubble mailer (i.e. light weight padded) that is made for an is an exact fit for a DVD in a standard DVD Amray case. (Size #0). No extra weight and not bad prices.
Need an external monitor? Try this as a lightweight, fairly inexpensive monitor. It includes a cigarette lighter adapater so you can use a 12 volt gel battery with it. (Its battery will not last near as long as say the XHA1's.) You will need a "3-Way Coupler" to connect the cables to your camera (to connect the red, white, and yellow ends) which you can get at Radio Shack®. Radio Shack® has its own version of this TV called the ACCURIAN which retails for around $200.
|I use Final Draft for script writing and love it. Recently I used the small notebook PC I was writing on to print DVDs on a Bravo II disc publisher. When I went back to Final Draft my pages were only 5 inches wide and horribly formated. Your printer choice can change the shape of Final Draft pages, but setting the printer back to a standard page size (in this case I had to switch my default printer back to a printer that can print letters) will fix the problem.|

EQUIPMENT note that there the only major difference between the Canon XH-A1 and the newer Canon XH-A1s is that the XH-A1s can connect via USB, the XH-A1 only has Firewire. And the Canon XH-A1s fixes a problem found only in a few of the XH-A1 issues. Our video above is for learning both.
Canon GL-1: When I started out I bought and used a GL-1. The one out now is the GL-2
Recently though I bought a new Canon XH A1 and in one word the XH A1 is terrific. Here are a few notes for those who are thinking about buying an HD camcorder, and who have had experience with a Canon miniDV camera such as the GL1 or GL2 (or any other miniDv camcorder). I wondered if the XH A1 shot in SD (Standard DV) as well as HDV. It does. I went through many articles not finding this and called Canon. So this means you can sell your old model miniDv camera (mine was a GL1--and used GL1's are fetching about $1200 on Ebay.) and still access, read, upload and download your Standard 4:3 miniDV tapes.
